Divinity: Original Sin 2 guide · Updated
Same Divinity 2 mods for the whole party.
A modded co-op campaign needs the same mods on every PC. SyncCrate copies the host's Mods folder to the rest of the party, and after the first time only what changed.

// 01 Why
Why modded Divinity 2 co-op breaks
Divinity: Original Sin 2 checks the mods of everyone joining a campaign. A missing mod or a different version and the friend can't join, or the save won't load.
Mods are .pak files in your Documents folder, and keeping three friends on exactly the same set by hand is slow and easy to get wrong.
With SyncCrate one PC hosts and the others match it. Mods are compared by content and only the differences are copied.

// 04 Common problems
When Divinity: Original Sin 2 mods don't match
A friend can't join the campaign
The game compares mods when a player joins. Different mods or versions and the join fails.
Everyone syncs the host's Mods folder before the session, so the files match exactly.
Mods out of date after a patch
Patches can break mods until they're updated, and friends update at different times.
The host updates once. Everyone else syncs and gets only the changed
.pakfiles.Moving to a new PC
A modded setup takes an evening to rebuild by hand.
Host on the old PC, sync from the new one, and the mods arrive straight from one PC to the other.

Good to know
- Which mods are on is chosen in the game and saved per profile, so turn the same mods on after a sync.
- Saves aren't synced. They live per profile in
PlayerProfiles, and the host's save is the shared campaign anyway. - Steam, GOG or Mac: the Mods folder lives in Documents either way, and SyncCrate finds it.
