Why modded Balatro gets out of step
Balatro mods run on Steamodded, and packs of new jokers, decks and challenges update often. Playing with the Multiplayer mod means both players need the same version of it and of the mods their run uses, or the lobby won't match.
Sharing a mod setup usually means a list of GitHub links and a friend unzipping each one into the right folder.
With SyncCrate one PC hosts and the other matches it. Files are compared by content, only the differences are copied, and your friend sees the list before anything changes.

.luafiles run code on your PC, so they're flagged for you to review before they sync. - Turn mods on and off. Disabled mods move to a

Sync Balatro in three steps
Install and add the game
Install SyncCrate on every PC and add Balatro in the Game Browser. Its folder is found automatically.
One PC hosts
The PC with the setup everyone should have clicks Start Hosting. The others pick it under Scan for Hosts on the same network, or paste its join code from anywhere.
Compare and sync
Check the list of new, changed and conflicting files, then Sync Now. Only the files that differ are copied, PC to PC.
TipEach PC needs the Lovely injector installed once in the game folder. SyncCrate syncs the mods in Balatro's Mods folder, Steamodded included.

When Balatro mods don't match
Multiplayer versions don't match
The Multiplayer mod checks that both players run compatible versions. One outdated copy and you can't play together.
Your friend syncs from you before playing, so both have the same Multiplayer and Steamodded versions.
Mod packs update constantly
Joker packs get new cards and fixes all the time, and keeping two PCs on the same version is manual work.
The host updates once, the friend syncs and gets only the changed files.
Mods in the wrong folder
Balatro's Mods folder is in your user folder, not next to the game, so mods often end up in the wrong place.
SyncCrate finds the right Mods folder on Windows, Mac and Linux (Proton), and copies files to the same place on the other PC.
Mods run code
Balatro mods are Lua code, so they can do anything the game can.
.luafiles are flagged before they sync, and nothing changes until you approve the list. Only sync with people you trust.

Good to know
- Your own saves between your own PCs are already handled by Steam Cloud. The profile folders in SyncCrate are for giving a friend a profile, or for copies without Steam Cloud.
- Lovely (the injector that loads mods) lives in the game folder and isn't copied.
- Windows, Mac and Linux all work, including the Windows version running through Proton on Linux.

Balatro questions
Where is the Balatro Mods folder?
On Windows %APPDATA%\Balatro\Mods, on a Mac ~/Library/Application Support/Balatro/Mods, and on Linux inside Proton's prefix for the game. SyncCrate finds it.
Do both players need the same mods for Balatro Multiplayer?
Yes, the same Multiplayer mod version, and the same mods for anything that affects the run. Syncing from the host gives both of you the same files.
Does SyncCrate install Steamodded?
Steamodded is a folder in Mods, so it syncs like any other mod. The Lovely injector goes in the game folder and is installed once per PC.
