Monster Hunter: World guide · Updated

Your MHW mods on another PC.

Armor transmogs, texture packs and quality-of-life plugins take a while to set up. SyncCrate copies your Monster Hunter: World nativePC folder from one PC to another, and after the first time only what changed.

// 01 Why

Why moving MHW mods is fiddly

Monster Hunter: World loads mods from a nativePC folder in the game folder, and most of them need Stracker's Loader installed to work. Every mod copies files into a deep folder structure that mirrors the game's own, so a folder of mods from ten different pages is hard to rebuild by hand on a new PC.

After a game update, the loader and many plugins need new versions, and a PC that's one version behind crashes at start or loads without its mods.

SyncCrate syncs the whole nativePC folder directly between PCs. It compares every file by content, copies only what's different, and shows you the list before anything changes.

Built in for Monster Hunter: World

  • Script warnings. .dll files run code on your PC, so they're flagged for you to review before they sync.
  • Turn mods on and off. Disabled mods move to a _Disabled folder the game doesn't load.
  • Game-running warning. SyncCrate warns you before syncing while Monster Hunter: World is still open.
  • Undo and history. Undo the last sync in one click, and put back any single file a sync replaced or deleted.

// 03 How it works

Sync Monster Hunter: World in three steps

  1. Install and add the game

    Install SyncCrate on every PC and add Monster Hunter: World in the Game Browser. Its folder is found automatically.

  2. One PC hosts

    The PC with the setup everyone should have clicks Start Hosting. The others pick it under Scan for Hosts on the same network, or paste its join code from anywhere.

  3. Compare and sync

    Check the list of new, changed and conflicting files, then Sync Now. Only the files that differ are copied, PC to PC.

TipInstall Stracker's Loader once on each PC. Its files go next to the game's exe, outside nativePC, so SyncCrate doesn't sync them.

// 04 Common problems

When Monster Hunter: World mods don't match

  • Mods not loading on the other PC

    Without Stracker's Loader, most mods don't work, even when every file in nativePC is in the right place.

    Install the loader first, then sync. The folder structure arrives exactly as it is on the host.

  • Crashes after a title update

    Game updates break the loader and plugins until they're updated, and old files left on one PC keep crashing it.

    Once the host's setup works, the other PC syncs and gets only the files that changed.

  • Hundreds of files in deep folders

    Mods drop files into paths many folders deep, and a missing one leaves a model without its textures.

    SyncCrate copies the folder file for file and verifies every file after transfer.

  • Plugins run code

    Loader plugins are .dll files that run with the game.

    .dll files are flagged before they sync, and nothing changes until you approve the list. Only sync with people you trust.

Good to know

  • Iceborne isn't copied. Mods for Iceborne content need the expansion on the other PC too.
  • Saves aren't synced. They're kept by Steam, outside the game folder.
  • Playing online with friends? Cosmetic mods only change your own screen. Keep gameplay-changing mods out of sessions with other players.

// FAQ

Monster Hunter: World questions

Where do Monster Hunter: World mods go?

In the nativePC folder inside the game's install folder, with Stracker's Loader installed next to the game's exe. SyncCrate finds Steam installs in every library.

How do I copy my MHW mods to a new PC?

Install SyncCrate on both, host on the old PC, join from the new one and Compare & Sync. Install Stracker's Loader on the new PC first.

Do my friends need the same mods to play together?

Not for cosmetic mods: they only change what you see. Syncing is for when a friend wants your look, or for your own second PC.

Can I undo a sync that broke my game?

Yes. Undo last sync puts your files back as they were, and each replaced file also stays in File history.
