// 01 Why
Why moving a Space Engineers world is awkward
A Space Engineers world you play with friends lives on whoever hosts it. When that person isn't around, the group either waits or someone copies a big world folder out of AppData, sends it, and hopes it's the latest save.
Ships and stations are similar. A blueprint you built lives in your local Blueprints folder, and publishing every work-in-progress design to the Workshop just so a friend can paste it is overkill. Local mods, like your own scripts or a mod you're testing, don't reach anyone else unless you copy them.
SyncCrate syncs worlds, blueprints and local mods directly between PCs. Files are compared by content, only the differences are copied, and you see the list before anything changes.

// 03 How it works
Sync Space Engineers in three steps
Install and add the game
Install SyncCrate on every PC and add Space Engineers in the Game Browser. Its folder is found automatically.
One PC hosts
The PC with the setup everyone should have clicks Start Hosting. The others pick it under Scan for Hosts on the same network, or paste its join code from anywhere.
Compare and sync
Check the list of new, changed and conflicting files, then Sync Now. Only the files that differ are copied, PC to PC.
TipClose Space Engineers on both PCs before syncing a world. SyncCrate warns you if the game is still running.
// 04 Common problems
When Space Engineers mods don't match
The host is away
A world hosted from a PC is saved on that PC, and nobody else can continue it.
Sync the world to whoever hosts next. They also need the Workshop mods the world uses.
Sharing a ship design
A blueprint only exists on the PC it was saved on, and uploading every draft to the Workshop isn't what the Workshop is for.
The Blueprints folder syncs from the host, so friends can paste the exact ship you built.
Both of you played the world
Two copies of the same world can't be merged, and one of them has to win.
When the same world changed on both PCs, SyncCrate shows the conflicts and asks which version to keep. Pick the same side for the whole world.
Mods with scripts
Local mods can contain C# scripts that run in the game.
.csfiles are flagged before they sync, and nothing changes until you approve the list. Only sync with people you trust.

Good to know
- Workshop mods aren't synced. Steam keeps Workshop items in its own folder, so SyncCrate can't sync them. Everyone subscribes to the same ones; SyncCrate syncs local mods, worlds and blueprints.
- Back up before a big world move. Turn on Back up before sync, and Undo last sync puts the old world back if you picked the wrong side.
// FAQ
Space Engineers questions
Where are Space Engineers saves stored?
In %APPDATA%/SpaceEngineers/Saves on Windows, with one folder per Steam account and a folder per world inside it. Blueprints are in SpaceEngineers/Blueprints next to it.
How do I let a friend host our Space Engineers world?
Host SyncCrate on the PC with the world, your friend joins and syncs, and the world shows up in their game. Make sure they're subscribed to the same Workshop mods before loading it.
Can I share blueprints without the Workshop?
Yes. Local blueprints sync like any other folder. Friends open them from the blueprint screen in game and paste them in.
Does it sync Workshop mods?
No. Workshop mods are downloaded and kept by Steam. Everyone subscribes to the same ones. SyncCrate is for local mods, worlds and blueprints.
